The Royal Gems Golf Club is a standout creation by renowned designer Garry Roger Baird, adding another “gem” to his portfolio, which includes the Shuzu Course at Shishido Kokusai Golf Club in Japan and the Hermitage Course, a long-standing LPGA tournament venue in the United States. Royal Gems is one of only a select few golf courses in Thailand to be an official member of the United States Golf Association and is certified to host professional championships. The club further cemented its reputation by hosting a European Seniors Tour event in 2009.
Set within an attractive natural parkland environment near Bangkok, the course stretches to 7,107 yards and features narrow fairways, thick rough, strategically placed lakes, large bunkers, and fast, well-conditioned greens. Although relatively flat, each hole has been individually sculpted to present clear strategic challenges from the tee. The par-5 holes are particularly demanding, while three of the four par-3s require tee shots played directly over water. Trees frame every hole, punishing errant shots, with water hazards and both fairway and greenside bunkering frequently coming into play.
Royal Gems Golf Club blends American, Scottish, and Thai design influences, resulting in one of the most stylish members-only courses in the greater Bangkok area. Visitor play is limited and permitted only for guests staying at the onsite resort or those booked through authorized agents.
Practice facilities include a grass driving range and a full complement of warm-up areas. The onsite golf resort offers comfortable accommodations, best suited to golfers staying overnight, as the surrounding area has limited attractions and private transportation is recommended. The clubhouse restaurant is well regarded, serving a variety of Japanese, Thai, and Western cuisine.
