Ria Bintan Ocean Golf Course is a 27-hole championship golf facility designed by golfing legend Gary Player. The 18-hole Ocean Course opened for play in October 1998, followed by the first nine holes of the Forest Course in December 2000.

The Ocean Course delivers two distinctly different playing environments. Much of the layout winds through the native jungle of the Riau Islands, where encounters with monkeys, small deer, or wild boar are more likely than seeing other golfers. In contrast, the seaside holes provide the course’s most memorable moments. The par-5 7th hole, voted the best par 5 in Asia, reveals the sea halfway down the fairway. Golfers then move closer to the coastline at the short dogleg par-4 8th before playing directly along the shoreline at the iconic par-3 9th. This famous hole, widely photographed, demands a medium-iron shot over the beach to an island-style green. The final ocean view comes at the par-4 10th, where the fairway runs parallel to the beach.

Ria Bintan Golf Club has earned international recognition, including inclusion in Golf Digest’s official Top 100 Golf Courses ranking. It also captured top honors at the Asian Golf Monthly Awards in 2008, winning Best Golf Course in Asia, Best Course in Indonesia, and Best Par 4 in Asia.
