Hoiana Shores Golf Resort is the first golf course in Vietnam designed by Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects (RTJ II). Located approximately 45 minutes south of Da Nang International Airport and just 8 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An Ancient Town, the course winds through coastal dunes along Vietnam’s central shoreline. This championship layout is a true links-style course, characterized by rolling sand dunes, limited vegetation, and two returning nines routed entirely over pure sand. The greens are surfaced with TifEagle Bermuda grass, while tees and fairways feature Zeon Zoysia, ensuring excellent playing conditions year-round. Construction techniques were carefully applied to preserve the existing dune formations and pine terrain, with holes weaving through native Casuarina trees and coastal brush. Several holes—particularly toward the finish—run directly alongside the sea, playing within the natural coastal dunes.

Firm underfoot and designed to encourage the ground game, Hoiana Shores displays many of the traditional characteristics of classic links courses found in the British Isles, albeit in a tropical setting. The wide playing corridors allow for a variety of strategic approaches, making the course adaptable for both professional tournament setups and enjoyable play for amateur golfers.

The round builds to a dramatic conclusion on the back nine, where holes near the shoreline are heavily influenced by coastal winds that sweep across fairways and greens. Accurate alignment and shot shaping are essential to reach the greens in regulation. The closing hole plays back toward the clubhouse and directly into the prevailing wind, providing a fitting and challenging finish.
