Located at an elevation of approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, Thanh Lanh Valley Golf Club & Resort enjoys a cool, pleasant climate year-round, with average temperatures ranging from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. These ideal playing conditions make the roughly two-hour drive from Hanoi well worthwhile. A newly developed bypass road linking Tam Dao, Thanh Lanh, and Dai Lai has further improved access, placing several of northern Vietnam’s top golf clubs within easy reach.

Thanh Lanh Valley Golf Club & Resort is also known as Serena Valley Resort Golf & Club, its alternative name used interchangeably by golfers.

Designed by legendary architect Sir Nick Faldo, Thanh Lanh is widely regarded as one of Vietnam’s standout golf masterpieces. Faldo and his design team skillfully incorporated the natural terrain surrounding Thanh Lanh Lake and the valleys of the Tam Dao Mountains, creating a layout that flows seamlessly through its dramatic setting. Golfers encounter a variety of environments, including water-lined holes, hillside terrain, parkland stretches, and even a short links-style section. Some of the most spectacular holes are set on a peninsula extending into Thanh Lanh Lake. Both nines return to the clubhouse, with the closing holes tracing the lakeshore against a striking mountain backdrop.

Natural streams and rolling contours are used extensively to add strategic interest and variety in shot-making. While the course can stretch beyond 7,000 yards, five tee options and generous fairway widths ensure it remains enjoyable and playable for golfers of all skill levels.

The Serena Valley Resort clubhouse is a distinctive structure resembling a medieval castle, overlooking the finishing holes and the lake beyond. Modern amenities—including accent lighting, well-appointed VIP areas, and a fully stocked pro shop—are thoughtfully integrated into the design without detracting from its traditional exterior. A collection of private resort villas sits behind the clubhouse and is available for both short- and long-term stays.

No Hanoi golf itinerary is complete without a round in the northern Tam Dao Mountains, and Thanh Lanh Valley Golf & Resort stands out as the region’s premier course. Most golfers choose a day trip from Hanoi, typically allowing 10 to 12 hours to fully enjoy both the golf and the stunning mountain scenery along the way.
