Bintan Lagoon is home to two championship golf courses. The first to open, The Jack Nicklaus Seaview Course, debuted in 1996 and was designed by 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus, widely known as “The Golden Bear.”
The Jack Nicklaus Seaview Course features five tee options, making it accessible and enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels. From the championship tees, the course stretches to a demanding 6,443 meters. Coastal winds sweeping in from the South China Sea add another layer of challenge, often complicating club selection, particularly on the signature par-3 12th hole, which plays directly toward the ocean. This hole is widely regarded as one of Indonesia’s finest seaside par threes.
While the sweeping views of the South China Sea are a highlight, the Sea View Course is equally defined by classic Nicklaus design principles. Strategic shot placement and disciplined course management are essential, as the layout rewards thoughtful play and penalizes unnecessary risk.
The front nine winds through native tropical jungle, where Nicklaus’s trademark bunkering is used extensively across gently rolling terrain. In contrast, the back nine opens up to dramatic coastal scenery, with expansive sea views dominating the closing stretch of the round.
